The President Inaugurates RE Infrastructure Projects

JAKARTA – The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo is going to inaugurate 8 (eight) projects of Renewable Energy-based Infrastructures in East Indonesia areas. Those eight projects are part of the realization for 35.000 MW Program for people. The total investment for the infrastructure project reach Rp 61.032.688.200,-, Tuesday (4/5).

Those eight projects consist of eight generators located in four Province in East Indonesia: Papua, West Papua, Maluku, and North Maluku Province in total capacity of 1.295 KW, distributing electricity for 216 house units and public services and it is also interconnected to the PLN existing system.

Here are the profile of the projects inaugurated by the President, Joko Widodo:

  1. One Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) in West Papua Province located in Temel Village, Ayamaru Jaya Sub-district, Maybrat District, in capacity of 280 KW;
  2. One Centralized Solar Power Plant in West Papua Province built in Harapan Jaya Village, South Misool Sub-district, Raja Ampat District, in capacity of 15 KW;
  3. Two Hybrid Solar Power Plants (PLTS) in Papua Province build in Waropko Village, Waropko Sub-district, Boven Digoel District and Sota Village, Sota Sub-district, Merauke District. Each PLTS is in capacity of 100 KW and interconnected to the existing PLN system;
  4. Three Hybrid Solar Power Plants (PLTS) in Maluku Province: 
    • Hybrid PLTS in Maluku Province build in three locations: BNPP Villages Adaut, Selaru Island, West Maluku Tenggara District in capacity of 100 KW;
    • Hybrid PLTS located in Tutukembong Village, Yamdena/Saumlaki Island, West Maluku Tenggara District in capacity of 250 KW and contribute to the reduction of CO2 emission for 320,706 ton/year;
    • Hybrid PLTS built in Bomaki Village, South Tanimbar Island, West Maluku Tenggara District in capacity of 100 KW.
  5. One Hybrid Solar Power Plants (PLTS) in North Maluku Province built in Wawama Village, South Morotai District, Morotai Island in capacity of 350 KW and is interconnected to the existing PLN system.

Ministry of EMR is encouraging any efforts in hastening the development of new renewable energy and energy conservation. By having the 35.000 MW Program, it was targeted that the new and renewable energy-based plants is for 23%. The target will be included in Electrical Power Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) PLN 2016 – 2025. (AK)
